Bio Cremation™
Friendly to the Earth, Friendlier to our Communities.
Matthews is the leader of “Cremation Green” technology and the BIO Cremation™ process presents another eco-friendly alternative for reducing human remains to their basic element of bone ash.
Protect, Preserve and Educate are important building blocks as we view the environment. Manufacturers and Consumers are leading a movement that supports a lifestyle which focuses on lowering the carbon footprint while addressing greenhouse gases and climate change. Even within death care, environmentally-driven services are growing in popularity and whether in green burial or cremation, the importance of these choices plus the power of controlling “chain of custody” are essential.
Why BIO Cremation™? BIO Cremation™ accelerates the natural decomposition of the body through the use of water and an alkali solution. The process is fully automatic by utilizing a user-friendly PLC touch screen. This eco-friendly process provides numerous environmental attractions:
- No Mercury or Air Emissions / No Abatement
- Reduced Carbon Footprint
- Retains 20-30% more bone fragments than flame cremation
- Low Operating Costs, Minimum Energy Requirements
- No Cremation Container Emissions
- Medical Implants are Completely Unharmed and Can Be Recycled.
- No Stack Requirement for Air Emissions Discharge
- Effluent Discharge is Safe with No Harmful Chemical or Microbial Contaminations
The Process of Bio Cremation™
Operating time is typically a two to three hour cycle which is similar to entry level cremation equipment. The equipment requirements are the stainless steel Resomation® vessel, steam generator for heating water, chemical and effluent tanks which are all sourced through Matthews Cremation. An effluent tank is contingent on local environmental stipulations; otherwise it may go direct to drain. Minimum space required to operate is approximately 20’x30’.
